Spartan Super

Have you ever thought about pushing yourself physically and mentally beyond what you ever thought you could? Have you even just wanted to do something just because it looked fun but didn’t know you could do it? Have you ever been told you couldn’t do something and instead of believing what that person told you you did it anyways; and succeeded at it not once but five times?

Well I was confronted with these back in the Fall of 2011 when I was in a deep depression, feeling sorry for myself, wondering if this was how life was going to be. Worn out from a job that required traveling 30 or so weeks out of the year, suffering from pain mentally and physically from advanced stages of Ankylosing Spondylitis which I was diagnosed with at age 40 after 20 years of suffering from lower back pain and high blood pressure at the age of 41.

I spent many nights on my 1 bedroom apartment patio drinking and smoking the night away feeling terrible about my life. I wanted more, a nice house to call home, free from the piling debt and drowning from the feelings of having no big goals, no drive to succeed. Everyday spent just going through the motion, get up, take the dog for a walk, eat breakfast (usually something packaged and unhealthy), go to work (worked at home or traveled to a city in the US, come out of the office, walk the dog, pop in a frozen pizza for dinner, pop open a beer and light a cigarette. It was a boring life and to top it off I was mentally fighting with my false belief that basically this was the way my life was going to be. Boring, fight an Autoimmune disease the rest of my life that would eventually disable me causing more depression and unhappiness.

But there were moments, late at night for many months during the Fall of 2011, in state of intoxication sitting on my patio looking up to the stars where I asked God to show me a sign. I know there is more in me to give. There is more I can do than this. How can I take this negative of my life and inspire others to not ever give up? Please give me the strength to persevere!!!

That when I was introduced to Team Beachbody from an distant friend I met on the beaches of 2007, Seay Standford. With the healthy nutrition, the awesome fitness programs and most importantly the SUPPORT from other like-minded individuals who all had their own struggles and now because of Team Beachbody broke free from their chains are living healthy, fulfilling lives. Just as I have done so since December of 2011 when I started Shakeology, P90X and my journey of living healthy both physically and mentally.

Now, I run Spartan Races for fun. This year, 2014, Spartan Race planners decided to hold a Texas Spartan Trifecta. All 3 levels of Races in one calendar year in 1 state. The Spartan Spring (3+ miles-15+ obstacles), The Spartan Super (8+ miles-20+ obstacles) and the Spartan Beast (13+ miles-25+ obstacles). I said how can I pass up this chance to have my name listed permanently in the records of the greatest obstacles course and earn the Spartan Trifecta.

Here’s the latest installment of my Spartan Experience. The Spartan Super on Saturday May 17th and then the Spartan Sprint on Sunday May 18th. Yes, 2 days in a row and by a guy that suffers what feels like arthritis in every joint of my body.

If you are ready to change your life and get out of the struggles you seem to always be fighting year in and year out. I would be honored to be your Beachbody Coach and help achieve all your goals. Message me here and we’ll get started working towards living your dreams.
